Living life

So what are the expectations of a 32 year old in life? I would think one would have a full time job, own a house, be married, hell most probably have a sizable 401k or other savings starting to pile up. Spend there free time collecting stamps and having date night with their friends. Then there are the "others". They live in their parents basement, spend all their part time job money at the game store or to buy a World of Warcraft mystical flying something or other. They bum a ride to the comic store every Wednesday and there diet consists of Code Red Mountain Dew and Doritos. Their game night is a bunch of nerds around a wooden table in a dank corner of the cellar with bountiful bowls of m&m's and an endless supply of geek stenching up the room. Me? I'm both. I live in my house. I go to work everyday @5am. I have a beautiful wife. I have to mow the lawn, fix my car, build another picnic table, and take the dog for a walk. Then on the flip side I collect "dolls" or action figures to those in the know. I also play Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Heroclix, Star Wars mini's. I consider myself a pretty good Rockband player. I have marathon video game nights. I have every comic appearance of Venom, bagged and boarded. Oh and I also collect other various toys, books, games, figures, posters, movies, music, and tools, lots and lots of tools. How do I manage and balance all of this? That's a great question, maybe someday this blog with be able to answer that one.

A list

Here we are, fourteen days into 2010 and I am already annoyed by something. That something? American Idol. I am already tired of the radio play, the commercials, and the gossip. Yea, Yea, my pants are on the floor, I get it. Well how about 2009? Here is a list of the most annoying things from 2009. In no particular order.

1.) John and Kate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OolWOlWFYU
2.) Not being able to watch Tv on Tuesdays thanks to too many stupid reality shows that Melissa HAS to watch.
3.) The Snuggie craze: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h05ZQ7WHw8Y
4.) Maine Voters vetoing the same sex marriage law.
5.) This goddamn fucking song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eJpORI7tx4

The dropping of the ball, and ultimately the dropping of the gloves

So yea yea I know. I stopped blogging. Some people kept checking in for a while and some people asked if anything new was posted. Then silence. No one brought it up, no one asked, no e-mails saying someone commented. I scrolled by my blog link in my favorites, occasionally pausing, but always continuing on my way. So I apologize. Some of you may not know what has happened in the last couple of months. So I will sum it up before moving back to current news. Hell, I'll even recap the whole 2009 (it was that exciting). January-Metallica, April-Metallica HOF induction, May-Redsox/Mets group trip to Fenway, June-Phish, August- Paul McCartney and Robstock, November-Phish, Dec-California and Metallica X2. That's the bullet points of 2009. Of course other stuff happened, But I wasn't blogging so tough. So back to the present. I started this whole blogging thing as a slap at Cortney for not following through on her "thought of the day", and here I am again due to Cortney. She has deceided to start a blog of her own to help get back into writing. Something she loves to do, has spent a good part of her life doing, and even done as a job. She has asked for motivation, help, and feedback. I hope that through me writing, she will stay inspired, and I can spend some of my free time ticking her off. So I am presenting a challenge to you Cortney, A battle of the blogs if you will. A Ying Yang approach to topics, ideas, and events. Clearly both of our minds work in completely different ways, and I enjoy arguing.

They're here

So I am already fed up with the tourists. My usual 30 minute commute home, took an hour and a half. I'm not really sure what the problem is either. Everyday we drive to work, home, the movies, wherever. We probably on average travel at a speed of 40mph I'd guess. We still manage to see all the sights, read what movies are playing at the theater, see the specials on the McDonald's board, notice the lady bent over in the garden, or the dog sleeping on the front lawn. Somehow we manage to do this while eating, singing along to the music, texting, talking on the phone, or even "tweeting". So why the hell can't people on vacation do the same thing? I spent a good part of my day yesterday traveling about 5mph. There were three accidents that I know of in the Windham area alone. All because people have to come to Maine to look out the damn car window. There is nothing here that they don't have at home. Oh you want to go camping? Go to a campground in Connecticut! You feel the urge to go hiking? There are mountains in New Hampshire! Oh you feel like going to the lake? There is water in Massachusetts people! I cant get to the grocery store without having to drive around a half hour to find a spot. Must be because our hot dog and hamburgers are the finest in the world! Huge lines at the gas station, Not sure why they don't understand this. But if they didn't drive here they wouldn't need to refuel to go home! Order a pizza from the local hole in the wall gas station? That will be an hour wait. Want to rent a movie and snuggle up with the misses? Sorry the only thing left is Harry and the Hendersons. I have lived in Maine my entire life, there is nothing exciting here. Nothing that is worth coming to the woods for a week. Nothing you can't do at your own house, in your own town, in your own state. Nothing you can't do NOT IN MY STATE!
